KIRTANA
Kirtana is a Sanskrit word that means to narrate
glory, it is commonly known as call and response style
singing. These songs can simply include the names given to the
divine or they can reveal more of the Lordās specific glories.
For example, Gopala is a name for Krsna, it means the one who
is capable of protecting the entire cosmological reality. The
name implies a power of enormous magnitude. In this
magnificence the human heart can take refuge. For the one who
can protect the moon and the stars is the same that can
protect you and your loved ones. That the sun is just the
right distance from earth to allow for life is part of this
cosmic protection. The order is infallible. To this exquisite
order we sing our unending praises. Bhakti, as a devotional
attitude, is the soulās most immediate upliftment.
